rlogin foxtrot.ics.uci.edu. -l agentos The password was given at the meeting.

Everyone logs into AgentOS account, gets a separate directory. Controlled source code resides in /src directory. JDK1.1.2 will be available.

Learning Java

The students who have not had substantial Java experience will be required to do a "Learn Java" Project (Albert, An, Calvin). The two projects I have in mind are:

You are required to use the AgentOS framework to implement these programs. Any questions you may have on specific components, and any bug reports, etc. should be directed to both the author of the module and me (larryc@ics.uci.edu), except for the Event Pool, which will be managed by myself since Ken Tang is no longer around.

Paper Publication

The following constitute some of the "Hot" topics that may yield good research publications in the near future.

Research into related work

We will continually learn about other agent systems by having a student present one agent system each week.

Weekly Presentation

Minutes

Calvin has chosen the ubiquitous email system as his project to learn Java.

An has chosen the bulletin board system (to be used on the project's Web site) as his project to learn Java. An has not had client/server programming experience, and will likely team up with Albert on this project.

Albert was not present at the meeting.

Ranjit suggested version control as another possible area of focus. Ranjit wants to meet his goal of getting a paper submitted by November 97. I suggested ad-hoc routing using agent systems as a fruitful topic. Prior to implementing ad-hoc routing algorithms, however, agent transport and routing must be completed in AgentOS. Ranjit will meet with Larry tomorrow 4pm to discuss how to begin working on transport and routing in AgentOS.

IMPORTANT: Regular meeting time has been changed to Monday 3pm and Wednesday 3pm.
